Monday, Monday
We didn’t get enough snow to close anything. That’s a disappointment.
I could take another day – the ER folks gave me two on my return to work slip. Part of me thinks I should tough this out, and the rest of me is so darn sick of being house bound that I am going to venture in to work, sore or not. I need a change of scenery.
The tramadol made me sick as a dog so there will be no more of that. Still taking the super strength ibuprofen which helps as much as anything. I am done talking about this back thing now. How incredibly boring for all involved! I am fascinated though by how quickly one can become hyper-focused on not feeling well when one has been relatively healthy. I should be kinder to my body.
If I cared about football at all I would be tickled pink that the Saints won the Superbowl. I am a huge supporter of the underdog.
I am contemplating what bike to buy in the spring. Any suggestions? I just want something to cruise back and forth to work on and perhaps take the dogs on trail rides now and then, Is there one bike that will do both?
And so it goes.

I have a tricycle.
Hmm, you can easily get a bike for $100 that will do both. Well, that depends on how hilly it is, I suppose. Unless you plan on doing some crazy hauls, though, any bike should do what you want. Get a comfy seat!
Sorry to hear about the back muscle pull! No idea what tramadol is but heavy meds kill me too.
Hey, maybe Wednesday there’ll be a snow day. That is the hope here anyway.
I recommend going to a Dicks that has a bike department. I went all over the net and to a lot of bikes shops to get my newer one. Finally, I took the advice of a friend and went to Dicks. Decent prices and excellent service package. 50$ extra for three years of free service including tune ups 3 times a year. All you pay for with a flat is the tube. They’re pros and they’re super fast usually. And they have enough of a selection to try out too with people who know how to recommend the right bike for the rides you will be taking.
Another suggestion is that right away you should get a ike rack for your car. You can get one fairly cheaply from Craigslist too. They last for ages and people get new ones for different car types. You might not use it right away but you will be super glad to have one when you find a sweet spot to ride that is further away.
I would say consider getting a recumbant bike to help out your back but if you want to tone those muscles more and strengthen them, an upright will do that fairly gently of you ride it often.
They sell gel covers for seats too. So if you find a great deal on a bike with a crappy seat, you can get a gel cover and it will feel great. And you can remove and wash the gel cover.
Good luck and here’s to a snow day Wednesday. I really really want one myself.
